For all Iphone/Android User, I discovered a very cool app which is a GPS tracker.
It follows you and create a map of your trip. You can then export to facebook for example and send the map via email, watch it on google maps or google earth. Your friends can also download your maps and follow your steps.
More info + video here:
http://www.everytrail.com/iphone.php
I think this could be an awesome way to share our spots and cool tracks we found, especially for the big adventurers like Josh or John...
The apps is called EveryTrail PRO and cost 3 euros, but i think it really worth it.
What do you think of this idea?
We could really collect a cool database and export it easily.
I know some websites exist where you can put your trips on maps, but here the exporting function of this app is very cool , you can download the trip of others and see them on your phone to do exactly the same... |

Werbung für was kommerzielles... für sowas gibt es bestimmt auch bei iOS was kostenloses - alles was GPX aufnehmen kann ist ausreichend - und das kann fast jeder GPS tracker...

umh , ok...
so you think im just doing some "werbung" ?? umh, umh...
so tell me, do you carry your normal GPS in your backpack when you do some freebord? i think people are more likely to have their phone rather than a GPS...
And if you think there are some free solution that are doing the same things, give me some names or softwares or whatever. Try to say something constructive instead of saying that i do some "werbung" |

i know there are many apps and websites to do that... its a bit the jungle to choose one.
Runtastic is the same kind of thing, looks cool too.
I just chose "everytrail" because it got some very good reviews and also because there is one interesting function: you can export your ride as a little file. Then, you can send it to a friend (if he also has the app), and then, in your phone, in the everytrail app, you can make a database of all the places that the other collected and get all the info you need about the track, in your phone.
If some other people are getting the app or anyother app doing the same, please tell it here so maybe we could organise properly to share the maps. |

When i need a GPS i go out using my Openmoko Freerunner - Its a phone with a GPS chip that was state-of-the-art a few years ago. On that phone i got a few apps that can track me whatever i do (TangoGPS, navit, grep'ping the NEMA pipe and many more).
As a secundary phone i am using a Palm Pre - its neither iOS nor Android but even for the palm there are free apps that can track you with a standard GPX file...
As the Freerunner nor the Palm are really widespread i just can't imagine that there are no free apps on iOS or Android that could do the same.
I didn't write all of that as i doubt that anyone here uses a Openmoko phone except me and only a minority (if any) uses WebOS.
And all of this is why i said it looks like an ad.
